Iowa Lakes Men’s Basketball Signs Brandon Boggs to a National Letter of Intent

May 16, 2013

Iowa Lakes Community College head men’s basketball coach, Troy Larson, announced the signing of Brandon Boggs to join the Laker basketball program this fall.

Boggs, a 6-foot-3-inch guard from Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls, S.D., was selected to the All-City team last year after being a critical piece to the Rough Riders 23-2 season; going undefeated in conference play, a district championship, and finishing third at the state tournament.

“Brandon comes from an outstanding high school program in Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Coach Taylor,” Larson said.  “He is a strong physical wing with good size.  The knowledge he gained in high school has made him a very good motion player who can defend and rebound.”

During his senior season, Boggs averaged 11 points; 5.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals; and 1 assist per game.  He shot 47% from the field and 73% from the free throw line.

“We are looking forward to having Brandon as a Laker next season,” Coach Larson commented.  “He also played for Southwest Minnesota Stars AAU program under the direction of Ross and Ryan Reitsma with previous signee Jeff Decock; should bring some instant chemistry which is nice to have with incoming athletes.”

Iowa Lakes Men’s basketball is coming off an outstanding 2012 – 2013 in which the Lakers won the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) regular season title for the first time in school history.  The Lakers also won the Region 11 championship resulting in Iowa Lakes 4th national tournament appearance.  The Lakers are coached by Troy Larson, who is entering his 7th year at Iowa Lakes with an overall record of 122 – 67.  Iowa Lakes returns four players from the 2012 – 2013 team.
