The Iowa Lakes Community College Men’s Basketball team earned their highest rank on the season in this week’s NJCAA Div. II top 25 coaches’ poll, moving up to #7. The Lakers, with a 17-4 overall record and 8-1 in the conference, also hold the top spot in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.
Iowa Lakes, who is on an eleven game win streak, has 2 conference road games scheduled this week; Feb. 6 against Des Moines Area Community College and Saturday Feb. 9 versus Ellsworth Community College, both games tipping off at 7:30 PM.
“Our league is very tough this year,” Head Coach Troy Larson said. “We have a difficult stretch of games starting with DMACC tonight.”
Iowa Lakes has utilized complete team play during their successful season thus far. 4 players for the Lakers are averaging in double digits scoring; Kelly Madison from Des Moines, IA, with 16 points per game, followed by Ben Shellim from Melbourne, Australia with 14, Deondre Parks from Flint, Mich. adding 12, and Josh Schaben from Harlan, IA putting up 11.
“The team is playing well,” Larson stated. “We continue to show improvements and are anxious for the rest of the season.”
