The family of Norma Newhouse decided to create a memorial scholarship in 2002. The Norma Newhouse Memorial Scholarship gives $500 and must be used for tuition, books, or fees. Norma worked at the Emmetsburg Care Center as a certified Nurse Assistant for over 23 years. She greatly valued higher education and believed in quality care for all citizens. Requirements include nontraditional student (minimum 25 years of age), full-time enrollment and sophomore status in Associate Degree Nursing.
The 2012-13 recipient is Shanna Johnson of Spencer.
