“I always knew I wanted more in life but I didn’t know what to do.”
Those are the words of Donna Bredeson of Swea City, a non-traditional student at Iowa Lakes Community College who attends classes at the Emmetsburg campus.
Now, not only is she in college at Iowa Lakes Community College; but, she is also one of the students featured in the Iowa Lakes television commercials.
The words that Donna said are words that many people think or say each and every day.
It took encouraging words from friends and a helpful husband to help Bredeson make the life-changing experience happen.
“Without the help from my husband, who is an instructor here, I would not have tried,” confessed Bredeson.
Donna’s husband, Dan Bredeson, is an Iowa Lakes instructor for the Farm Equipment and Diesel Technology program.
“He (Donna’s husband) and my friends gave me the courage to change my future, which I am very thankful for now,” Bredeson went on to say. “It has changed my life tremendously.”
Donna is in her second year at Iowa Lakes Community College where she is working toward an Associate in Science Degree for Administrative Assistant. She will graduate in May of 2011.
During her time at Iowa Lakes, Donna has become very involved in the Business Professionals of American (BPA) organization. In fact, she serves as a state post-secondary officer for the Iowa Chapter of the BPA.
The experience of being selected to be featured in the Iowa Lakes television commercials is just another exciting change in Donna’s life.
“I was very nervous, even though I tried to be calm, it was very difficult to remain calm in front of the cameras,” Donna admitted. “But, it was very exciting to be in the commercials.”
