Military personnel who are thinking of starting a college career will be assisted by Iowa Lakes Community College this spring term if they are new to college.
This past fall, all qualifying full-time military students received a $250 credit/voucher toward the purchase of books for classes.
“This worked out well last fall as a way to say ‘thank you’ to our fine service men and women and welcome them to Iowa Lakes,” said Julie Williams, Dean of Students. “Military personnel get help with college tuition so the college decided on a bookstore voucher.”
To qualify for the bookstore voucher, individuals must be National Guard or Reserve personnel – or active duty military personnel.
“Those with NOBE (Notice of Basic Eligibility), COE (Certificate of Eligibility) or DD214 cards can take 12 or more credit hours of classes and qualify for this voucher,” said Steve Pelzer, Director of Financial Aid. “Apply at any campus; we have individuals who can help to identify the best courses or program for each person.”
To receive this one-time $250 bookstore voucher, applicants are asked to contact Anne Strayer, Veterans Affairs Office Associate, at 1-800-242-5108, ext. 5250, or 712-852-5250 or email email@example.com.
