More than 1,000 veterans, their families and fairgoers gathered in the Events Center at the Clay County Fair on Monday in honor of Veteran’s Day. It was evident everyone enjoyed the program, in particular the many performances by the Iowa Lakes choir and band, as the crowd sang along with the patriotic songs performed.
The Iowa Lakes chorus and band performed the National Anthem and America the Beautiful among other selections, and several soloists performed. A highlight of the program included the playing and singing of each branch of service’s theme song while members of that branch in attendance stood to be recognized.
“It really is an honor to perform for all the service men and women in attendance at the fair,” commented Carol Ayres, Instrumental Professor.
Vocal Professor Brett Fuelberth added, “It is very early in the year for us to have a program put together, but providing opportunities to perform for our students is an important part of their education and participation in music at the college.”
Upcoming performances will include Coffee Houses and the Jazz Festival. More information on the Music Program at Iowa Lakes as well as a full schedule of music events can be found at www.iowalakes.edu/music.
