For persons living in the Spencer area to pursue education and training to become a certified EMS provider. More information may be found at

The Opportunity Grant helps pay tuition and other school-related expenses for students who have aged out of Iowa’s foster care system and students adopted after their 16th birthday. For more information on this scholarship visit

Avomeen is an independent analytical and chemical testing laboratory. Their chemist specializes in analyzing and developing both consumer and industrial products. The Avomeen scholarship program is part of Avomeen’s effort to help those who demonstrate high academic achievement, exceptional leadership qualities and involvement with community service defray the costs of obtaining their science education. For persons living in the Spencer area pursuing an education in a health related field. Applicants must have completed at least one semester. More information may be found at

The Black Knight’s Car Club of the Estherville, Iowa, area has developed a scholarship for persons studying in the automotive field. Contact the Iowa Lakes Institutional Advancement Office at 712-362-0410 for an application.

For students who have completed at least one semester in a welding, mechanics, industrial trades, electricity, renewable energy or agriculture program. Preference may be given to graduates of Clay Central-Everly, Harris-Lake Park, Okoboji or Sioux Central high schools. Business and Professional Women of Iowa Scholarship
For non-traditional students in need of additional education to reenter the work force. Five $1,000 will be available for those who apply and meet the criteria. Applicants do not need to be BPW members. Contact the Iowa Lakes Institutional Advancement Office at 712-362-0410 with questions or for application form.

CashCourse is sponsoring a scholarship essay contest–up to $1,500 in Scholarship money. CashCourse is  looking for students to share their personal finance stories: Decisions made, mistakes they've learned from, and lessons other students can relate to. Starting Sept. 15, students can visit the My Story Contest Page to submit their short essay and the official entry form. CDI – Conservation Districts of Iowa Scholarship
CDI is partnering with local soil and water conservation districts (SWCD) to foster the higher education endeavors of Iowa students interested in conservation and agriculture by offering scholarships.  Iowa High School Class of 2015 Students pursuing programs of study in any field of conservation or agriculture qualifies for the Conservation Scholarship.  Preference will be given to students pursing programs of study in conservation.  The scholarship must be used for the student’s first year of college education. Several scholarships awarded with the top scholarship of $4,000.   Application available at JANUARY 30, 2016 DEADLINE.


Nursing and Medical Assisting - $500  For students interested in pursuing associate level degrees, diplomas or certificates related to Nursing, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technology, Physical Therapy, Veterinary Technology, Radiologic Technology and others.

Art and Design - $500  For students interested in pursuing associate level degrees related to Art, Computer Aided Design, Fashion Design, Visual Communications, Interior Design, Computer Graphics and others.

Computer Technology and Information Systems - $500  For students interested in pursuing associate level degrees or certificates related to Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Networking, Computer Software,Database Technology, Information Security and others.

Online Associate Degree - $500  For full-time or part-time students interested in pursuing any online associate level degree.

Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Degrees
Undergraduate Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing any associate or bachelor degree program emphasizing Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement. Areas of study that will be considered include Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Homeland Security, Sociology with Law/Criminal emphasis, Corrections, Computer Forensics, and Forensic Psychology, among others.

Liberal Arts and General Studies Degrees
Undergraduate Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing an associate or bachelor degree program emphasizing Liberal Arts, General Studies, or Humanities. 

Architecture and Drafting Degrees
Undergraduate Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing an associate or bachelor degree program emphasizing Architecture, Architectural Drafting or Design, or Architectural Engineering. 

Undergraduate Distance Learning Degrees
Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing a distance learning associate or bachelor degree program. Available to all part-time or full-time undergraduate students completing an online degree program.

Friends of Kossuth Youth & 4-H
For second college students. Friends of Kossuth Youth & 4-H are offering a Leadership and Citizenship Excellence Award. Available to anyone attending a college or university in Iowa or a boarding state who will be considered a fulltime student next academic year and has completed one year of college. The recipient must be a Kossuth County residence. Further requirements are listed on the application.

Good Samaritan Society- Jackson Scholarship and Loan Repayment Program
Minnesota Department of Human Services has expanded the DHS Nursing Facility Scholarship Program for participating  nursing facilities in Minnesota.  The scholarship covers ALL eligible expenses related to the education at 100%.  To find out more about this and other outstanding opportunities  from the Good Samaritan Society please contact Barb Bluem or Daren Rife at 507-847-3100 or go to

International Association of Arson Investigators 
Reynold C. Hentges Memorial Scholarship

In 1997, the Iowa Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators established the R.C. Hentges Scholarship Program in honor of Reynold C. Hentges, the 1st President and Life Member on the Iowa Chapter when it was reorganized in 1993. 

Each year, the Chapter selects up to two individuals to receive a onetime $500 scholarship. The scholarship award is disbursed as follows: $250 for fall semester and $250 for spring semester. Award checks will be made payable to the recipient and the school the recipient is attending. 

Applicants must be a resident of Iowa and have been accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college, university or vocational/technical school within the State of Iowa. Applicants must be majoring in one of the following professions or area of study: Fire Service, Fire Science, Law Enforcement, Law, Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Protection Technology or Insurance. The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at Iowa State University has an online scholarship application called FinAidScholar.  The FinAidScholar application is a single application for all scholarships administered through the OSFA.

Iowa Student Loan offers $2,000 scholarships for 30 Iowa high school seniors through the Iowa financial Know-How Challenge: Senior Scholarship. Registration is open now at:

Interested students must visit the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Website at to determine eligibility to apply for this scholarship. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation does not accept applications directly from students; if you feel you meet the eligibility requirements contact the Institutional Advancement Office at 712-362-0410 for further help. 

For residents of Dickinson County, Iowa, entering or enrolled in an RN, LPN or BSN program.  For an application call Delaine Olson at 712-336-1795. 

For active high school or post secondary students who are residents of Kossuth County.  Students must be planning to be (or already enrolled in) an accredited public or private university, college, vocational, technical or post secondary institution full time.  Students must exhibit leadership qualities through involvement with the Youth Committee of Kossuth Connections Coalition and other activities.  For more information contact 515-395-8336 or

The 2015 Licensed Nurse Scholarship is an annual $500 scholarship awarded to a nursing student. Applicants must be college students pursuing a degree or certification as a nurse. High school seniors are also eligible if they plan to pursue studies in these fields, and will be at least 18 years of age by the date of scholarship deadline. The application deadline is March 1. For Estherville Lincoln Central (Estherville, Iowa) graduates planning to attend Iowa Lakes Community College OR after graduating from Iowa Lakes Community College planning to attend the University of Iowa, Iowa State University or the University of Northern Iowa.  Hardcopy application is available at the Institutional Advancement Office, call 712-362-0410. 

For high school seniors planning to major in journalism, broadcasting or electronic media at an accredited post secondary education institution.  Grant must be used for tuition and fees.  Contact the Iowa Lakes Institutional Advancement Office at 712-362-0410 for more information.

P.E.O. Chapter PA Scholarship
A local P.E.O. Chapter PA Scholarship has been established to benefit area women in the pursuit of their higher education.

The local chapter, PA, was established in 2005 and offers this scholarship opportunity to a graduating high school senior woman or a woman currently enrolled in an institution of higher education who previously graduated from a Dickinson County school district.  Eligible applicants must be in good academic standing at their current school.  High consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating positive character and a commitment to community service.  Applicants should indicate in their personal summary any honors, special recognitions and extracurricular involvement they have had while attending school.  Applicants may reapply yearly. For an application click here.

Providian Medical Scholarship

Providian Medical, a  leading company in the sales and service of new and refurbished ultrasound, MRI, and CT medical equipment, is pleased to announce its first annual “Providian Medical Scholarship.” At Providian Medical, we believe that education is key for anyone preparing to enter the workplace and embark on a career. To that end, we hope to play a small part in helping students achieve their educational goals with this bi-annual $500 scholarship.

The Roy J Carver Scholarship Program is funded by the Carver Charitable Trust in memory of Roy J Carver who achieved success through his own  initiative and hard work.   Scholarships are awarded to students with great potential and promise, who work hard to make ends meet, or who are faced with debilitating circumstances in their lives.  Twenty Scholarships are available to Iowa State University students who will start their junior year fall semester.   Deadline for completing the application is April 1, 2016.   to complete the application go to or call Iowa State University Office of Student Financial aid 515-294-5627

Varsity Tutors' is a private tutoring & test prep service with more than 800 tutors in 10 cities, and they have decided to give back to the community by offering a monthly $1,000 college scholarship to students who plan on or are currently attending a 4-year university.  Prizes are awarded monthly and will be paid directly to the winner's college or university at their time of enrollment.
