2017 Future of Assisted Living Scholarship, the premier ratings and reviews site for senior services providers nationwide, is proud to announce our fourth annual scholarship for advancement in higher education. This is a general scholarship which will award each of the selected applicants with a scholarship award of $2,000. This scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec) during the academic year.

The annual scholarship award is for three (3) students enrolled in an associate's degree, bachelor's degree or graduate level program at an accredited 2-year college or 4-year university during the 2017-2018 academic year.

Applicants must include a 250-word maximum introductory bio with their 500-750 word essay and sign the Scholarship Award Agreement.

A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to three (3) individual students who write the most compelling essay as judged by staff.

Submission Deadline: December 31, 2017

Scholarship award recipients will be announced by January 31, 2018.

2017 Work Ethic Scholarship
For the fourth consecutive year, the mikeroweWORKS Foundation launches the Work Ethic Scholarship Program, offering a free pile of money to people getting trained for skilled jobs that are in demand. Anyone with a pulse and a desire to learn a trade is invited to apply. The Foundation has collaborated with This Old House to create the Generation Next campaign to help close the skills gap by encouraging young people to master the vocational trades that built this country, including carpentry, construction, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. In addition, the PA Chamber Foundation has given its support to this year’s program, which will be designated to applicants who are Pennsylvania residents attending eligible Pennsylvania schools.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. The Opportunity Grant helps pay tuition and other school-related expenses for students who have aged out of Iowa’s foster care system and students adopted after their 16th birthday. For more information on this scholarship visit

Avomeen is an independent analytical and chemical testing laboratory. Their chemist specializes in analyzing and developing both consumer and industrial products. The Avomeen scholarship program is part of Avomeen’s effort to help those who demonstrate high academic achievement, exceptional leadership qualities and involvement with community service defray the costs of obtaining their science education. For persons living in the Spencer area pursuing an education in a health related field. Applicants must have completed at least one semester. More information may be found at

For students who have completed at least one semester in a welding, mechanics, industrial trades, electricity, renewable energy or agriculture program. Preference may be given to graduates of Clay Central-Everly, Harris-Lake Park, Okoboji or Sioux Central high schools. Bruce Larson Memorial Scholarship
Easy- Automation Inc. of Welcome, MN is once again providing a $1000 scholarship to local students interested in pursuing a career in the field of electrical controls or electrical engineering. The Bruce Larson Memorial Scholarship applicant must be enrolled full-time the for entire 2017-2018 academic year.  Applications are due by April 1, 2017.  For more information or to apply please contact the Foundations Office 712-362-0410 or

Business and Professional Women of Iowa Foundation
The Business and Professional Women of Iowa Foundation Scholarship is for  non-traditional students who are already in the workplace and want to attend school to further their education. Five $1000 scholarships are available, deadline is March 1, 2017.  Applications and criteria can be found at or contact the Iowa Lakes Foundation Office at 712-362-0410.

CashCourse is sponsoring a scholarship essay contest–up to $1,500 in Scholarship money. CashCourse is  looking for students to share their personal finance stories: Decisions made, mistakes they've learned from, and lessons other students can relate to. Starting Sept. 15, students can visit the My Story Contest Page to submit their short essay and the official entry form. Art and Design - $500  For students interested in pursuing associate level degrees related to Art, Computer Aided Design, Fashion Design, Visual Communications, Interior Design, Computer Graphics and others.

Computer Technology and Information Systems - $500  For students interested in pursuing associate level degrees or certificates related to Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Networking, Computer Software,Database Technology, Information Security and others.

Online Associate Degree - $500  For full-time or part-time students interested in pursuing any online associate level degree. Scholarship for Women in Technology
Deputy is proud to support women pursuing careers in technology with our Deputy Women in Technology Scholarship. This scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to one student annually who is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, business technology administration or a related IT field. Des Moines Chapter of the Mothers of Multiples organization
The Des Moines Chapter of the Mothers of Multiples organization is sponsoring one $500 scholarship for the 2017-2018 academic year for Iowa's multiple birth students pursuing enrollment or currently enrolled in a college, university, trade or vocational school. Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Degrees
Undergraduate Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing any associate or bachelor degree program emphasizing Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement. Areas of study that will be considered include Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Homeland Security, Sociology with Law/Criminal emphasis, Corrections, Computer Forensics, and Forensic Psychology, among others.

Liberal Arts and General Studies Degrees
Undergraduate Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing an associate or bachelor degree program emphasizing Liberal Arts, General Studies, or Humanities. 

Architecture and Drafting Degrees
Undergraduate Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing an associate or bachelor degree program emphasizing Architecture, Architectural Drafting or Design, or Architectural Engineering. 

Undergraduate Distance Learning Degrees
Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing a distance learning associate or bachelor degree program. Available to all part-time or full-time undergraduate students completing an online degree program.

Friends of Kossuth Youth & 4-H
For second college students. Friends of Kossuth Youth & 4-H are offering a Leadership and Citizenship Excellence Award. Available to anyone attending a college or university in Iowa or a boarding state who will be considered a fulltime student next academic year and has completed one year of college. The recipient must be a Kossuth County residence. Further requirements are listed on the application.

Good Samaritan Society- Jackson Scholarship and Loan Repayment Program
Minnesota Department of Human Services has expanded the DHS Nursing Facility Scholarship Program for participating  nursing facilities in Minnesota.  The scholarship covers ALL eligible expenses related to the education at 100%.  To find out more about this and other outstanding opportunities  from the Good Samaritan Society please contact Barb Bluem or Daren Rife at 507-847-3100 or go to

For Hispanic heritage students with U.S. citizenship, minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA and planning to transfer to any U.S. accredited four-year institution.  For more information visit

Since 1969, Hy-Vee has awarded scholarships to both high school and college students through the Hy-Vee Foundation. Hy-Vee scholarships include $1,000 awarded to high school seniors and college students - for a total of $80,000 awarded in scholarship monies. The scholarship award is payable in a lump sum to be applied to normal college expenses including tuition, room and board, book purchases and rentals. (Fees refundable to the student as well as entrance or application fees are not covered.)

To be eligible to apply for a Hy-Vee Foundation Scholarship, you may be pursuing any course of study but it must lead to a four-year college degree. Qualified students are eligible to apply every year.  Program guidelines and application form available on under company info. The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at Iowa State University has an online scholarship application called FinAidScholar.  The FinAidScholar application is a single application for all scholarships administered through the OSFA.

Iowa Student Loan offers $2,000 scholarships for 30 Iowa high school seniors through the Iowa financial Know-How Challenge: Senior Scholarship. Registration is open now at:

Iowa Student Loan Out-of-State Students
Iowa Student Loan® offers $1,000 scholarships to five incoming college freshmen from neighboring states through the Come 2 Iowa Senior Scholarship. High school seniors from Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota or Wisconsin  who attend an Iowa College in the fall of 2017 are eligible.  Register between Feb. 13 and May 12, 2017 at

The Kitchen Professor Scholarship
The Kitchen Professor’s scholarship program is intended to help future leaders of the foodservice and hospitality industries achieve their potential. Annually, undergraduate and postgraduate students with a passion for the culinary arts have the chance to receive a $500 scholarship grant, which can be used toward course materials, books, and other educational resources.  students currently enrolled in a college, university, high school, or trade school may apply for this scholarship.  For More information go to

For Estherville Lincoln Central (Estherville, Iowa) graduates planning to attend Iowa Lakes Community College OR after graduating from Iowa Lakes Community College planning to attend the University of Iowa, Iowa State University or the University of Northern Iowa.  Hardcopy application is available at the Institutional Advancement Office, call 712-362-0410. 

Masonry Institute of Iowa
The Charles Nicholay Foundation was set up to support Iowa Students continuing their education in the Construction/Architecture/Engineering field.  For more information or to complete the application for the $1,000 scholarship visit

For high school seniors planning to major in journalism, broadcasting or electronic media at an accredited post secondary education institution.  Grant must be used for tuition and fees.  Contact the Iowa Lakes Institutional Advancement Office at 712-362-0410 for more information.

P.E.O. Chapter PA Scholarship
A local P.E.O. Chapter PA Scholarship has been established to benefit area women in the pursuit of their higher education.

The local chapter, PA, was established in 2005 and offers this scholarship opportunity to a graduating high school senior woman or a woman currently enrolled in an institution of higher education who previously graduated from a Dickinson County school district.  Eligible applicants must be in good academic standing at their current school.  High consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating positive character and a commitment to community service.  Applicants should indicate in their personal summary any honors, special recognitions and extracurricular involvement they have had while attending school.  Applicants may reapply yearly. For an application click here.

Providian Medical Scholarship

Providian Medical, a  leading company in the sales and service of new and refurbished ultrasound, MRI, and CT medical equipment, is pleased to announce its first annual “Providian Medical Scholarship.” At Providian Medical, we believe that education is key for anyone preparing to enter the workplace and embark on a career. To that end, we hope to play a small part in helping students achieve their educational goals with this bi-annual $500 scholarship.

Transfer Times $6000 Scholarship
Who can apply: current students enrolled in a two-year school in the Transfer Times distribution area (Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin)

Winfield United
Winfield United announces 2017 Careers in Agriculture Scholarship. The Careers in Agriculture Scholarship Program is available to high school graduating seniors and first or second year college students pursuing two- or four-year degrees in agronomy, crop production, or closely related fields. Scholarships worth $1,000 will be awarded to 10 high school seniors and 10 college students. Complete  information and applications are available on the internet at in the News section.
