Yes, scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and require a new online application each academic year.
If I apply at the April 1 scholarship deadline, do I have to do another application for the October 1 deadline?
No, one online application per academic year covers both deadlines.
How do I choose which scholarships I want to apply for?
You do not choose which scholarships you want to apply for. The online scholarship manager program (Next Gen Web Solutions) screens the answers you supply in your application and ‘matches’ you to scholarships you are eligible to apply for.
What is the most common mistake applicants make?
Not filling in pertinent fields and not monitoring their application to be sure two recommenders finish the process. Without two recommenders an application is not considered for any scholarships.
In 2010-11, $735,024 was awarded to students who applied for Iowa Lakes scholarships. 65% of the applicants received at least one scholarship. The average scholarship award was $1,966.
