Spirit of Reggie Award

"Life is a game. Band is serious."

The summer after Reg passed away, the idea was given to us to start a “Spirit of Reggie” award
to keep the memory of Reg alive.  The staff unanimously agreed.

 Reggie was…

• All about teaching others….
• All about jazz – performance, education, promotion 
• Friendly
• Fun-loving
• Funny

 So, we decided to look for a camper who was enthusiastic, helpful to others, eager to learn,
worked hard, humorous and not too full of themselves.

2004

Spirit of Reggie 2004 Recipient: 
Andy Stessman with camp director, Carol Ayres

Our first Spirit of Reggie Award was a unanimous decision by all the camp staff. 
Andy Stessman had been at camp for 7 years and every year had been the
camper with the most enthusiasm, willingness to learn and all the other
qualities we were looking for in our award winner.
The other wonderful thing about Andy...he actually knew Reg and had
been at camp with Reg and had taken lessons with him. 
So, he was honored to have been chosen!
