Carol Ayres, Camp Director is Professor of Music and Instrumental Music Director in the Humanities Department at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville. Carol was Reggie's student at Buena Vista College when he started the camp in 1981.  With his connections and her organizational skills, the camp got off to a great start. Together they made the camp a great success. After his retirement from the jazz camp in 2000, Reg named Carol the director of the camp.

Besides her involvement in the camp, her teaching duties at Iowa Lakes Community College include directing the college’s jazz band, handbell choir, brass ensemble, jazz combo, percussion ensemble and woodwind ensemble. Carol also teaches many sections of music appreciation and jazz appreciation in face-to-face classroom situations and also online.

Carol holds music education degrees from Buena Vista College and the University of South Dakota.

An active arranger, pianist and woodwinds player, she performs frequently in various venues in groups such as the Dick Baumann Monday Night Big Band. Professor Ayres has a CD, Beautiful Friendship, which was recorded by the University of Okoboji Reggie Schive Summer Jazz Camp Headliners and Directors
