What to bring to camp
WHAT TO BRING TO
The following list includes “essentials” for our various activities and certain “forbidden” articles in accordance with college policies
Please understand we’re trying to think of everything you will need…so, we might be adding things to the list…right up to the last minute! Also, use your heads, because we might be missing the obvious! If we have, please email us…so we can include it for everyone else. Thanks! Carol Essentials: Instruments!!! Plus amps, cords, reeds, valve oil, etc 3 ring binder and pencil Personal Articles: Extra long twin size sheets or sleeping bag Blanket(s) Pillow(s) Towel(s) Shampoo Soap Toothpaste & toothbrush Brush, comb, hair dryer, etc. Deodorant Alarm Clock Other Items: Appropriate summer clothing to wear to the classroom Gym clothing and tennis shoes Swim suit Sweatshirt/jacket Special event clothing for our crazy Theme Days: 2009 Theme Days & Activities Announced!!! Theme Days: Everyone who participates has an opportunity to win prizes. So pack your suitcase full of crazy things, so you can participate! Special Daily Activities (Tentative): Sunday: School Pride Day/Favorite Professional Team Day Bring a shirt/sweatshirt/hat/shorts/pants with school/team name Monday: Hawaiian/Tropical Day Flowered shirt/skirt/pants/shorts, leis, hats, sandals, sunglasses Tuesday: Uniform Day Any uniform will qualify. (Firefighter, police, nurse, judge, grocery, fast food, sports team, coach, chef, medical, national park, mechanic, etc) Wednesday: “All Blues” – One color day You choose the color. Wear it with pride. Everything from your shoes, socks, shirt, shorts, jewelry, hair ribbons, hair, contacts...whatever you want. Jazz, of course, would pick "All Blues". Thursday: Favorite t-shirt & Jazz Camp T-shirt Day We'll start the day with our favorite t-shirts or sweatshirts, no matter how beat up they are. Then for our concerts we'll wear our new jazz camp t-shirts and either shorts or jeans. T-shirts provided by the camp. Evening Activities (Tentative): All activities are optional but encouraged for resident campers. Sunday - Game Night Games, popcorn, meet new friends, prizes Monday - Headliner Concert Attend the Headliners’ Evening Concert Tuesday - Arnolds Park Amusement Park/Headliner Concert Arnolds Park Amusement Park: http://www.arnoldspark.com/ Attend the Headliners’ Evening Concert Wednesday – Camper Activities on campus Reality show/survivor/ultimate evening planned by counselors Thursday - Student Concert-Family and Friends: free admission! 3:30 Combo Concert 6:30 Big Band Concert Optional Items: Snacks (each room has a refrigerator) Camera Fan Games/Playing cards iPod/Radio/CD Player/Jazz CDs Softball gloves, balls, bats Frisbees 3 ring notebook Pencils Spending Money Beach Towel Postage Stamps Watch Magazines/Paperback Books Bug Repellent Suntan Lotion Aspirin* Forbidden Articles: Pets Explosives: firearms, fire works, sparklers, etc. Alcoholic Beverages Non-prescription controlled substances Televisions, skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles Candle & Incense burners If in doubt of what to bring or allowable items to bring, please email Carol at cayres@iowalakes.edu
