University of Northern Iowa
UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN IOWA
Cedar Falls, Iowa
Associate of Arts (AA) degree
The University of Northern Iowa accepts the Iowa Lakes Community College AA degree as meeting the general education requirements with the exception of a Capstone course taken at the University as a junior or senior. A non-western culture course is required which can be taken at UNI. The maximum number of hours accepted from a community college is 65 credits. There is a foreign language requirement for graduation.
Students planning to transfer without an AA degree can use the equivalency guide provided on the University of Northern Iowa web site. The site has the Iowa Lakes equivalent courses that apply to completing the general education requirements at UNI. Another equivalency guide has all Iowa Lakes courses compared to UNI courses.
Information on transferring to UNI can be found on their web site. A programs of study or majors section of the web site can be helpful in planning the selection of courses at Iowa Lakes that apply to your planned major.
Articulation agreements are now in place for the Iowa Lakes Community College Auto Technology, Agribusiness Technology, and Computer Aided Drafting programs.
Students planning to transfer to the College of Business Administration at UNI can check the Transfer Planning by Major web page for specific course recommendations at Iowa Lakes Community College.
