Gap Tuition Assistance Program

The Gap Tuition Assistance Program was established to provide funding for need-based tuition assistance to applicants. This assistance enables applicants to complete one of our following approved continuing education certificate training programs for in-demand occupations.

  • Activity Coordinator
  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)
  • Basic Computing
  • Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Bookkeeper Certificate
  • Certified Nursing Aid (CNA)
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Medication Aide
  • Welding (AWS Certification)

GAP applicants need to complete and submit:

  1. Application
  2. GAP Program Informational Interview Sheet   or   GAP Program Research Sheet
  3. Proof of income  (copy of first two pages of federal income tax return preferred)
  4. National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), contact Success Center

Basic Workplace Computing Certificate

Course #: 58983

Develop the basic computer skills and confidence to apply the knowledge learned to help you enter the job market; get a better job; and succeed at the workplace. Become comfortable using a computer with plenty of illustrations and practical, hands-on exercises. Earning a Continuing Education Certificate* is a credible way of documenting your training and formal development of employable skills. This program is designed for dislocated workers, students requiring skills enhancement, and others with little or no computer experience. Registration Fee: $795, includes Microsoft IT testing.

FREE training with Gap approved scholarship. 


Mondays Oct 20; Nov. 3, 10, 17, 24; Dec. 1, 8, 6-9 p.m.

Saturdays Nov. 8; Dec. 6, 8a.m.-2p.m.

Online assignments will be included.  Iowa Lakes Computer labs are available for students on all five campuses. 

Microsoft IT Academy** testing and certification is also available for those interested at the conclusion of this certification program.  There is no cost to the participants.   Dates for this testing will be available during the week of December 8th.  More information about this opportunity will be discussed in the course.
