EMS Refresher

This EMS Cont. Ed is designed to assist EMT/Paramedics in maintaining their NREMT requirements and proficiency, knowledge and skills pertinent to providing emergency care in the pre-hospital setting.  The program adheres to the refresher curriculum set forth by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Registry of EMTs.

Iowa EMS Instructor Development Conference Date(s): 4/5/14

This course is for instructors that help/instruct EMS classes for Iowa Lakes Community College.  The reason to attend this class is to improve EMS instruction in the State of Iowa. This is the second annual event. A national experienced instructor will be the key-note instructor at this Conference. This class will be held in the Des Moines area. Emergency Medical Tech (EMT)-2 $662 Date(s): 4/3/14-7/7/14

This is the second half of the EMT course.  You must successfully complete both EMT-1 & EMT-2 to be eligible to take the EMT certification Exam.  EMT certification is required before providers can move to more advanced level training.  This pre-hospital education course completes the comprehensive cognitive and psychomotor skills of the EMT course.  It includes a short clinical/field component.  It follows the EMT National Education Guidelines.  With successful completion of this course students are eligible to attend the National Register EMT practical and written exam to become certified.  Course #: 51900 Site: Emmetsburg (3208) Time: 6:30-9:30pm (Mon. & Thurs.)

EMS Practical Evaluator Endorsement $10 Date(s): 3/25/14

This endorsement is required for EMS providers to be an evaluator for the State practical exam. This class is a webinar style class presented by the Bureau of EMS. It is offered at one location at each Iowa EMS Training program. The college EMS program recommends previously endorsed providers come to the class to be updated on changes from the State.  Course #: 54210   Site: Estherville (101) Time: 7-9pm (Tues.)
