A growing population
of senior adults is creating a great need for health services. The
Health Care Administration program prepares administrators for
nursing and residential care facilities. Entry-level positions in
this field are frequently hired at $50,000 a year. The weekend
format of this program is especially attractive to non-traditional
students who are able to maintain their jobs while preparing for a
new career. This program articulates with area colleges and
universities toward a bachelor's degree that is necessary for
state licensure.
Massage Therapy
Graduates of
the
Massage Therapy program are eligible to take the licensure exam to practice
in the State of Iowa. This curriculum is approved by the Iowa Board of
Examiners for Massage Therapy. The program may be completed in one year
totaling over 700 contact hours of instruction.
Medical Assistant/Chiropractic Assistant
Medical Assistant
and
Medical Assistant Specialist are multi-skilled office professionals
who are primarily employed in chiropractic offices, hospitals or
medical clinics. Their duties include assisting patients, lab
procedures, limited x-ray procedures and general office duties.
Prospective students who enjoy a wide range of daily duties in a
fast-paced environment are good candidates for the Medical
Assistant program. Students may also be
interested in the
Limited Radiology diploma.
Medical Office
Technology
Well-trained medical office
professionals are highly sought after by a variety of medical
facilities. The
Medical
Office Technology Program prepares students for careers in
such areas as transcription, coding, recordings, insurance and
billing. Individuals who enjoy detail and office work in a
fast-paced environment are well suited for this career.
Surgical Technology
This one-year diploma program
trains technicians to assist in the operating room working with a
team of doctors or surgeons and/or nurses. The
Surgical Technologist receives classroom instruction on
instrumentation, sterile technique and surgical procedures. They
also begin OR observation in the first semester followed by
extensive hands-on, monitored experience throughout the rest of
the year.
