IOWA LAKES CRUISE IN SEASON
OPENER
All 13 players scored for
Iowa Lakes Community College
in their season opening 106
– 56 victory over Dakota
Wesleyan Junior Varsity.
Iowa Lakes was lead in
scoring by Cornelius Vines
with 19, Mitch Bain added
13, and Jeff Clark Neal
chipped in 10. Iowa Lakes
shot 51% from the floor (42
out of 83) including 9 three
pointers.
The Lakers held Dakota
Wesleyan to 25% shooting
from the floor (14 out of
55) and out rebounded the
guests 53 – 24 including 21
offensive rebounds. Joe
Knoer, Jeremy Winters, and
Zach Fencroy lead the
rebounding department with
7, 6 and 6 rebounds. Iowa
Lakes also forced 24
turnovers while collecting
16 steals.
Iowa Lakes improved their
record to 1-0 on the
season. Up next for the
Lakers is a Tuesday,
November 6th game
at Marshalltown.

Iowa Lakes suffers first
loss of season to
Marshalltown.
Iowa Lakes Community College
suffered its first loss of
the season 68-64 in overtime
to Marshalltown Community
College. The game was
played at East Marshall High
School due to the
construction that was taking
place at Marshalltown
Community College gymnasium.
It was a tough shooting
night for both teams. Iowa
Lakes shot 29% from the
floor, while MCC shot 34%.
Along with the poor
shooting, both teams turned
the ball over a combined 53
times.
Leading scorers for Iowa
Lakes were Mitch Bain with
19 and Cornelius Vines added
12. Jackson Parr and
Jeremy Winters each added 7
rebounds apiece. Iowa
Lakes will next play in the
NECC Classic in Norfolk,
Neb. They play
November 9th
at 4 pm and November 10th
at 8 pm.

Iowa Lakes gets second win
of the year!
The Iowa Lakes Men’s
Basketball team got its
second victory of the season
beating Central Community
College (Neb.) 97-84 in the
NECC Basketball Classic in
Norfolk, Nebraska. The game
was close throughout but
with about six minutes to go
Iowa Lakes opened up the
lead to ten and never looked
back.
Iowa Lakes
had four players in double
figures. Leading the way
was Mitch Bain with 25
points. Jimmie Marshall
added 20 points along with
Cornelius Vines’ 18. David
Fox also contributed 10
points and 6 rebounds. The
Lakers improved to 2 - 1 on

Iowa Lakes Community College
Men’s Basketball team
suffered its second loss of
the year falling to
Northeast Community College
79 – 72 in the NECC
Basketball Classic in
Norfolk, Nebraska. The
Lakers were behind most of
the game, but battled back
to tie it at 66 a piece with
three minutes to go. A
combination of poor free
throw shooting and timely
Northeast baskets led to the
Iowa Lakes defeat.
Leading the way in scoring
was Cornelius Vines with 19
points. David Fox
contributed a double double
with 11 points and 12
rebounds. Mitch Bain added
14 and Jimmie Marshall had
10. Iowa Lakes will play
Minnesota West in
Worthington, Minnesota on
Wednesday, November 14 at 8

West!
Iowa Lakes Community College
defeated Minnesota West 94 –
65 on Wednesday, November 14th.
It was a team effort from
the Lakers, with all players
getting in the scoring
column. Cornelius Vines led
the way with a team high 27
points. Joe Knoer and Zach
Fenceroy each added 11.
Mitch Bain added 6 assists
and 7 rebounds. The Lakers
will next play at Clinton
Community College in
Clinton, Ia. on November 17th.

Iowa Lakes Men’s Basketball
Team got its first
conference win against
Clinton Community College
over the weekend. The game
was a hard fought battle
with the Lakers having the
lead for most of the game.
But with only 5:33
remaining, Clinton cut the
Lakers lead to one. Some
key hoops by freshman Jeff
Clark-Neal and a solid
performance from team
captain Jimmie Marshall, the
Lakers defeated Clinton 84 –
71. Iowa Lakes improved to
4 – 2 on the season and are
1 – 0 in conference play.
Jimmie Marshall had a season
high 23 points while Jackson
Parr and Zach Fenceroy
combined for 21 rebounds.
Cornelius Vines also added
11 for the Lakers. Iowa
Lakes will next play Sioux
Falls JV for its homecoming
game, Tuesday, November 27th
at 7:30 pm in

Laker Men get another
victory!
The Iowa Lakes Men’s
Basketball team earned its
fifth victory of the season
defeating University of
Sioux Falls JV 103 – 63 last
night to improve to 5 – 2 on
the season. The Lakers shot
54% from the floor and made
11 three pointers. The
Lakers also out-rebounded
USF 50 to 21. The Lakers
were led in scoring by
sophomore Cornelius Vines
who had 26 points and shot
11 of 17 from the floor.
Mitch Bain had 11 while Joe
Knoer and Jeremy Winters
each added 10. David Fox
was the leading rebounder
with 9, 8 of which were
offensive. Jeff-Clark Neal
dished out eight assists and
had 9 points. The Lakers
men will next play Dordt JV,
Saturday, December 1st
at 1 pm in Estherville,
Iowa.

against Kirkwood!
The Iowa Lakes Community
College Men’s basketball
team suffered their first
conference loss of the
season against Kirkwood
Community College this past
Saturday night. The Lakers
shot 44% from the floor
while Kirkwood shot 61% and
made 11 of 18 threes. The
Laker men dropped to 6 – 3
on the season and 1 – 1 in
conference play. David Fox
led the Lakers in scoring
with 13 points. Mitch Bain
and Cornelius Vines each
added 12. Iowa Lakes will
next play Wednesday,
December 12 at home against
Minnesota West. The game
will start at 7:30 pm.

The Iowa Lakes Community
College Men’s Basketball
Team improved to 7 – 3 on
the season by defeating
Minnesota West last night 92
– 53. The Lakers held
Minnesota West to 41%
shooting from the field.
The Lakers also outrebounded
West by a margin of 45 to
19. Leading scorers for the
Lakers were Jeremy Winters
who had 20 points and pulled
down 10 rebounds. Dalston
Jones and Jimmie Marshall
added 14 a piece. Also Zach
Fenceroy and Jackson Parr
added 12 and 10
respectively. The Laker men
will next play Southeastern
Community College at Drake
Universities, Knapp Center,
this Sunday at 1 pm. The
game will be broadcast
statewide on Mediacom.

heartbreaker to
Southeastern!
Iowa Lakes Men’s Basketball
team suffered its fourth loss
of the season after dropping
a tough game to Southeastern
Community College yesterday
afternoon. The game was
played at Drake
Universities, Knapp Center
in Des Moines. Iowa Lakes
got of to an early first
half 11 point lead. But
Southeastern cut the Laker
lead to seven at half time.
In the second half Iowa
Lakes shot 24% from the
floor and Southeastern took
its first lead of the game
with just under one minute
to go. Southeastern hit
some key free throws and
went on to beat the Lakers
59 – 57. Jimmie Marshall
had a season-high 22 points
and Jeremy Winters
contributed 12 points and 8
rebounds. The Lakers will
next play at the Central
Lakes Classic on January 3rd
in Brainerd, Minnesota at 4
pm.

Laker Men get big win
against Vermillion!
The Iowa Lakes Men’s
Basketball team got its
eighth win of season after
defeating Vermillion
Community College 81 – 76.
The Lakers had a good
shooting first half and took
the lead into halftime 38 –
24. But Vermillion fought
back in the second half and
the Lakers escaped with a
five point win. Jimmie
Marshall and David Fox led
the Lakers in scoring with
16 a piece. Cornelius Vines
and Mike Betts also hit
double figures with 10 a
piece.

Classic!
Iowa Lakes
Men’s Basketball Team got
its second victory at the
Central Lakes Classic after
defeating Central Lakes
College 90 – 78 to improve
to 10 – 4 on the season.
The Lakers shot 47% from the
floor and shot 7 of 16 from
the three point line.
Cornelius Vines had a
game-high 24 points and
Jimmie Marshall added 23.
Bill Geelan chipped in 18
and had a game-high 6
rebounds, five of which were
offensive. The Lakers will
next play Division I

– 4 on the season!
The Iowa Lakes Men’s
Basketball team improved to
10 – 4 on the season after
defeating Division I
opponent Marshalltown
Community College 83 – 68.
The Laker men shot the ball
well, by shooting 52% from
the floor and hitting on 7
of 12 from the arch. The
Laker men have now won three
consecutive games with the
win over Marshalltown.
Leading scorers for the
Lakers was Cornelius Vines
with 37 points. He
connected on 14 of 16 free
throws and had five
rebounds. Jimmie Marshall
and Mitch Bain also hit
double figures in scoring
with 14 and 11
respectively. Iowa Lakes
will next play NIACC in a
conference game on
Wednesday, January 09 at
7:30pm in Estherville,
Iowa.

Iowa Lakes struggles, but
gets second conference win!
The Iowa Lakes Community
College Men’s Basketball
team got its second
conference win last night
overcoming NIACC 76 – 64.
The Lakers improved to 11 –
4 overall and 2 – 1 in
region play. It was a tough
night for the Lakers on both
ends of the floor. The
Lakers jumped out to an
early 15 to 3 lead with
16:52 remaining in the first
half. NIACC, then went on
a 9 – 0 scoring run, and got
themselves back in the
game. It was back an forth
in the second half, but with
four minutes remaining the
Lakers slowly pulled away
and got themselves a twelve
point victory. The Laker
men shot only 44% from the
floor and turned it over a
season-high 25 times.
Cornelius Vines was the
leading scorer for the
Lakers with 28 points.
Vines also contributed seven
rebounds, five assists, and
two steals. Jackson Parr
helped out by scoring 11
points and pulled down 9
rebounds. David Fox and
Mitch Bain also hit double
figures in scoring with 10
and 12 points respectively.
The Laker men will next play
Southwestern Community
College, Saturday, January
12 at 4 pm in Estherville,
Iowa.

Laker Men knock off
Southwestern!
The Iowa Lakes Men’s
Basketball team got its
fifth straight win this past
Saturday after defeated
Southwestern Community
College 82 -72. The Lakers
improved its record to 12 –
4 overall, and 3 – 1 in
region play. Southwestern,
who was ranked 12th
in the country in the last
NJCAA Division II Men’s
Basketball poll, got out to
an early 15 – 3 lead. But
the Lakers responded and
took the lead 41 – 35 going
into half time. In the
second half, the Lakers hit
some key baskets by Zach
Fenceroy and Cornelius Vines
down the stretch to give
them a ten point victory.
Mitch Bain was the Lakers
top offensive player who
contributed 19 points and
had a game-high 12 rebounds,
five of which were
offensive. Cornelius Vines
added 18 points, five
rebounds, and five steals.
Jimmie Marshall also added
ten. The Laker men will
next play against Division I
Iowa Western on Tuesday,
January 15 at 7 pm in
Council Bluffs, Ia.

Western!
The Iowa Lakes Men's
Basketball team had a
humbling experience last
night as they fell
to Iowa Western
Community College 93 -
67. The Lakers fell to
12 - 5 on the season.
The Lakers were
over-matched all night
by Iowa Western who shot
53% in the first half
and 47% for the game,
while Iowa Lakes shot a
dismall 36% from the
field. The Lakers
had four players who hit
double figures in
scoring but it was not
enough to outmatch Iowa
Western's athleticism
and toughness. The Laker
men will next play Iowa
Central, Saturday,
January 19th at 4 pm in
Fort Dodge, IA.

Basketball team defeated
Iowa Central Community
College 70 - 69 to
improve their overall
record to 13-5 and 4-1
in conference play. The
game was close

Lakes got some key stops
and baskets in the
closing minutes of the
game to come away with a
one point win. Iowa
Central shot 50% from
the floor but Iowa Lakes
out-rebounded Central by
18 which was determining
factor in the game. The
leading scorer for the
Lakers was Cornelius
Vines who dropped in 30
and had 5 rebounds and 3
steals. David Fox also
contributed by adding 11
and pulling down 5
offensive rebounds. The
Lakers will next play
against Morningside JV
this Tuesday evening,
January 22 at 7:30 pm in
Estherville, IA.

victory!
The Iowa Lakes Community
College Men's Basketball
team earned its 14th win
of the season after
defeating Morningside JV
100 - 84 last night.
The Laker men improved
its record to 14 - 5 and
4 - 1 in region play.
It was a slow start for
the Lakers, who fell
behind very quickly,
after Morningside
connected on four three
pointers in the opening
minutes of the game.
But the Lakers responded
and went on a 10 - 2 run
to pull even with the
Mustangs. The game was
close throughout the
second half, but
Morningside's hot
shooting cooled in the
final eight minutes of
the game, and the Lakers
went on to a 16 point
win. The Lakers had
five players in double
figures. Jimmie
Marshall was Iowa Lakes
leading scorer with 24
points and David Fox
added 18. Mitch
Bain had a balanced
night, chipping in 16
points and adding five
assists and seven
rebounds. Jackson Parr
and Zach Fenceroy
contributed 10 points
and combined for
16 rebounds. The Lakers
will next play against
Clinton Community
College this Saturday
evening, January 26 at 4
pm in Estherville, IA.

record to 15 - 5 while

Laker Men defeat Dakota
Wesleyan!
The Iowa Lakes Community
College men's basketball
team got another victory
this week after
defeating Dakota
Wesleyan JV 92 - 89.
The Laker men improved
to 16 - 5 on the season
with the win. It was a
tough defensive night
for the Lakers. Dakota
Wesleyan shot 50% from
the feild and were in
the game the entire time
but just could not get
key hoops in closing
minutes. For Iowa
Lakes, it was another
good offensive night
with three players
hitting double figures
and all but one were in
the scoring column.
Cornelius Vines had a
game-high 28 points and
shot 10-13 from the free
throw line. Jimmie
Marshall had a
double-double with 15
points and 10 assists.
Mike Betts also hit
double figures with 14
respectively. Iowa
Lakes will next play
this Saturday, February,
2 in Ellsworth, IA at 3
pm.

The Iowa Lakes Community
College men's basketball
team got another
conference victory after
defeating Ellsworth
Community College this
past weekend 77 - 65.
The Laker men improved
to 17 - 5 on the season,
and 6 - 1 in region
play. The Lakers had
their best defensive
game of the season
holding Ellsworth to 42%
shooting from the
floor. The Lakers also
forced a season-high 25
turnovers and had a lead
the entire game.
Ellsworth did make some
runs and got within four
points a number of
times, but the Lakers
would answer with runs
of their own, which led
to the twelve point
victory. Cornelius
Vines had a great
all-round game with 33
points and added seven
rebounds and six assists
while turn it over only
once. Zach Fenceroy and
David Fox added nine a
piece but held Ellsworth
leading scorers in check
all night. The Laker
men will next play
Wednesday, February 6
against DMACC at 7:30 pm
in Estherville, IA.

The Iowa Lakes men's
basketball team improved

1 in region play with
its win over DMACC this
past Wednesday. It was
a difficult shooting
night for the Lakers who

the Lakers also shot
poorly from the free
throw line connecting on

Lakers got some
key defensive stops and
had timely rebounding by
Mitch Bain and Jackson
Parr to knock off DMACC
72 - 70. Leading the
way for the Lakers was
Mitch Bain with 20
points and 7 rebounds.
Jimmie Marshall added 13
points and Cornelius
Vines chipped 16
respectively. The
Lakers will next travel
to Southwestern
Community College this
Saturday, February 9th.

It was a tough night for
the Lakers who shot 37%

night 73 - 48. The
Lakers shot the ball

line. The Laker men
also got a team effort
with all of its players
getting in the scoring
column. Leading the way
for the Lakers was
Cornelius Vines with 24
points. Vines also had
3 steals and 3 assists.

Kirkwood!
The Iowa Lakes Men's
Basketball team got a
humbling experience this
weekend after they fell
to the second-ranked
team in the country,
Kirkwood Community
College, 80 - 59. The
Lakers got of to a tough
start falling behind by
15 points early in the
game. But Iowa Lakes
fought back to and cut
the lead to seven with
just under three minutes
remaining in the half.
Kirkwood then went on a
run of its own and took
a 17 point lead into
halftime. In the second
half Kirkwood kept its
commanding lead and went
on to defeat Iowa Lakes
by 21 points. Mike
Betts had a season-high
16 points and Jimmie
Marshall had 12.
Jackson Parr had a nice
game pulling down 13
rebounds. The Laker men
will next play Iowa
Central, Wednesday,
February 20th at 7:30 pm

the season after they
defeated Iowa Central
Community College last
night 71 - 68. The
Lakers shot only 37%
from the floor but they
outrebounded Central 40
to 22, which was the
difference in the game.
Also some key plays by
seniors, Jimmie Marshall
and Cornelius Vines,
helped the Laker men to
a three point victory.
Jimmie Marshall had a
great all-round game and
led the Lakers with 23
points, 8 rebounds, 6
assists, and 7 steals.
Cornelius Vines also hit

scoring with 16
respectively. The Laker

72. The Lakers fought
back from a 13 point
first half deficite to
tie it with 8 seconds
remaining. But Grant
Burns of DMACC hit a
last second shot to give
DMACC a 2-point
victory. For Iowa
Lakes, Mike Betts had a
season-high 21 points
and 10 rebounds. Zach
Fenceroy also hit double
figures in scoring with
12 points. Iowa Lakes
will next play in the
regional tournament at 6
pm on Saturday, March
1st. The game will be
played in Estherville,

The Iowa Lakes Community
College Men's Basketball
team got its first win
of the regional
tournament this weekend
after defeating
Southwestern Community
College 79 - 72. The
Lakers did not shoot the
ball particularly well
but got some huge
baskets down the stretch
to come away with a
seven point victory.
The Laker men also
outrebounded
Southwestern 35 to 21
which was the key factor
in the game. The
Iowa Lakes David Fox had
a double-double 23
points and 14 rebounds.
Cornelius Vines added
20, and Jimmie Marshall
had 16 points. Iowa
