Executive Board of Directors

The Iowa Lakes Scholarship Foundation oversees five separate trusts/endowments.

Currently the Scholarship Foundation consists of 30 members including an executive board of directors.

H. G. Albee Memorial Scholarship:
H. G. Albee, a former resident of the Estherville area, created a trust to be used primarily for scholarships. It was his wish that the Iowa Lakes Scholarship Foundation administer the trust income to the betterment of Iowa Lakes Community College, but primarily to provide scholarships. Your application is evidence of his faith in the college and the people who attend it. Applicants must be attending the Estherville Campus.

Gaarde/Hinsch Music Scholarship
Bertha and Delbert Hinsch of Estherville established the Gaarde-Hinsch endowed scholarship for the benefit of student musicians at Iowa Lakes Community College. Their great love of music inspired the couple to establish this generous gift which awards numerous music scholarships each year.

Clyde and Grace Sanborn Scholarship:
Clyde and Grace Sanborn, former business people in the Estherville area, set up a fund to be used for scholarship purposes. The Sanborn Scholarships will be awarded annually to graduates of Armstrong-Ringsted, Estherville Lincoln Central, Graettinger-Terril and North Kossuth High Schools. In addition, students with a Dunnell, Minn., address graduating from Martin County West High School in Sherburn, Minnesota, are also eligible. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of scholastic ability and need and must be used at the Estherville Campus.

John & Johanna Thomas Memorial Scholarship
The John and Johanna Thomas Memorial Scholarship was established for a freshman or sophomore student attending Iowa Lakes. Applicants must be planning to receive an Arts and Science degree and transfer to a four-year institution for a degree in engineering.

Stanley O. and Alma Young Scholarship
