Outstanding Alumni Award

This award is administered by the Iowa Lakes
Community College Alumni & Friends
Association and was established in 1992
after Jim Hall passed away in 1991. Jim was
a 1968 alumnus of Iowa Lakes. He attended
the Estherville School District graduating
from high school in 1966. After attending
Iowa Lakes Community College for two years
he attended the University of Wyoming for
one year and graduated from Mankato State
University in 1972. Jim married Sylvia
Groenewold and together they owned and
operated Hall’s Decorating in Estherville.
Jim was a strong supporter of Iowa Lakes
Community College while serving as an
assistant football coach. He was active in
the Century Club for many years.
Annually at the Iowa Lakes Community College
spring commencement, the recipient of the
Jim Hall Outstanding Alumni Award is
announced. The award goes to an
alumni of Iowa Lakes who is outstanding in service to the
community and a good representative of Iowa
Lakes alumni. Nominations for this award are
accepted in the Institutional
Advancement/Foundations Office and can be
submitted online.
