Welding Technology

Welders today plan, supervise and perform tasks necessary for making, installing and repairing all types of equipment and structures. This program trains students to qualify in techniques, skills and use of welding equipment. Welding at Iowa Lakes is a self-paced program. As competency is reached in one area, the student moves on to the next area.

Iowa Lakes Welding Program has been designated as an Educational Institution Member of the American Welding Society (AWS); one of two such programs in the state of Iowa.

As an AWS Certified Training Facility, the college is listed on the national registry as a certified participating organization.  All graduating students will be entered into the national registry and will receive a certificate for their participation.  Students take both a written test as well as a performance test.
