
Auto Collision & Paint Technology

Auto Collision is an ever-growing and changing industry. New types of metals, the latest plastic materials and high quality finishes on today's late model automobiles have opened up new horizons for highly trained auto collision repair technicians and refinishers.
In the Auto Collision and Paint Technology program at Iowa Lakes you will be trained in state-of-the-art techniques in the auto collision repair industry. Upon completion of the program you will be competent in:
- welding
- unibody repair
- plastic repair
- panel bonding
- glass replacement
- vehicle detailing
You will learn to mix paint with our PPG® paint mixing system. You will develop techniques for:
- spray painting
- various types of modern refinishing materials available today
- tinting and blending paint.
Practical experience will be gained in writing estimates and repairing damaged vehicles using crash estimate guides and estimate forms. You will estimate straightening time, refinishing time, paint and material cost, and basic business procedures. The Auto Collision and Paint Technology diploma from Iowa Lakes will show you have been trained in all aspects of a rewarding occupation.
