Business Specialist

Students wanting training in the office and technology areas have several options at Iowa Lakes. The Business Specialist program is a one-year diploma program. It may be further expanded into the Administrative Assistant program in Emmetsburg.
You gain computer, keyboarding and accounting skills in order to enter businesses as secretaries, receptionist and office assistants. You can also use these courses to improve existing skills if you are already employed.
Word processing and spreadsheet courses prepare you for Microsoft Office Specialist Certification testing. Basic accounting and computerized accounting develop your skills for duties in the areas of accounting or bookkeeping.
You may choose to enter the work force upon completion of the program or continue into the Administrative Assistant Associate in Science degree -- or any other Iowa Lakes program that utilizes these courses in its requirements.
