Landscape & Turfgrass Technology

The Landscape and Turfgrass Technology program prepares students for entry into the golf course and landscaping industry. The golf course, turf grass and landscape industries have a high demand for qualified individuals in the areas of lawn care, irrigation and chemical applications, and landscape construction and maintenance.
The specialist training and course work will be divided into three main areas: 1) classroom activities that will enhance your knowledge toward current practices, 2) lab experiments and active learning on the college owned irrigated 330-yard fairway with PGA specification green, a native green, and a 300-yard driving range, and 3) a supervised work experience during the spring semester where you will learn industry requirements and real world techniques.
This program will offer you updated technologies used in the industry, it will introduce you to the standards and benchmarks set by the Iowa Golf and Turf Grass Specialists, and it will prepare you for placement in Golf Course Management, Irrigation, Chemical Application, Turf Equipment, Landscape Installation and Maintenance and Landscape Design.
