An Iowa Lakes Community College Landscape and Turfgrass student has received a scholarship from the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association (INLA).
Danielle Carrigan, Emmetsburg, received the scholarships at the INLA Association dinner in Ames late last month. The $500 award is an acknowledgment of her achievements in course work at the college and in recognition of her ability to continue to promote the industry in the state of Iowa in future years.
The awards were given during the combined conference of the ISU Shade Tree Short Course/Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association Convention. The event was an opportunity for attendees to meet people in the horticulture industry and to hear speakers from across the nation.
“I am honored to have received this scholarship,” Carrigan said. “I have worked hard throughout this year and am grateful the Iowa Nursery & Landscape Association chose me as an applicant for this scholarship.” She added, “The INLA Conference was a fun and educational experience.”
The Landscape and Turfgrass Technology program is a two-year Associate in Applied Science program. Students receive three, on-the-job training experiences at a business of their choice.
