BSN DEGREE: University of Iowa College of Nursing offers an opportunity for registered nurses to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in their home area. To apply for admission to the UI College of Nursing, a student must be licensed as a registered nurse in Iowa and must have completed certain prerequisites as outlined on the University of Iowa Website at http://www.nursing.uiowa.edu/apply/bsn/early-decision-check-readiness.
DELIVERY: Students take prerequisite and supporting courses, which can be taken at Iowa Lakes Community College. The nursing major courses are offered in a primarily web-based format with limited on-site meetings. Practicum experiences are completed by working with area health care providers and agencies. A nursing faculty member from UI is on site at Iowa Lakes Community College and is responsible for teaching and facilitating courses.
APPLICATION: Interested students may request a no charge evaluation of their previous school transcripts and receive a curriculum pattern and suggested plan of study based on their individual needs. Students who are currently in an associate degree nursing program are encouraged to seek advisement early if they are interested in applying for this program.
