BSN DEGREE: University of Iowa College of Nursing offers an opportunity for registered nurses to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in their home area. To apply for admission to the UI College of Nursing, a student must be licensed as a registered nurse in Iowa and must have completed certain prerequisites as outlined on the University of Iowa Website at http://www.nursing.uiowa.edu/academic-programs/rn-bsn.
DELIVERY: Students can take all prerequisites, elective credit, and general education requirements at Iowa Lakes Community College while they are in their associate degree nursing program. The Iowa nursing major courses are offered completely on line. There is one practicum course (Community/Public Health) arranged in a healthcare agency close to where the student resides (in the state of Iowa). Students are not required to come to campus except for a one-day mandatory orientation in the Fall before classes begin.
APPLICATION: Interested students may request a no charge evaluation of their previous school transcripts and receive a curriculum pattern and suggested plan of study based on their individual needs. Students who are currently in an associate degree nursing program are encouraged to seek advisement early if they are interested in applying for this program.
