Position:      Wind Energy Industry Trainer
Classification: Professional Support B
Department: Career and Technical
Report to:  Chief Academic Officer

           

General Job Summary:

This is a full-time position located at the Estherville Campus. Primary responsibilities are developing and implementing various training programs for different segments of the wind energy business/industry in the area.

 % of TIME                                           Essential Duties/Responsibilities  


1.   Constant

(67-100%)

  1. Develop and implement training programs with area wind energy companies for their employees.

  2. Develop and implement professional certificate programs in Wind Energy area.

  3. Locate, interview, hire and evaluate instructors for various programs.

  4. Work closely with program instructors on curriculum, industry needs and scheduling or training.

 

 

2.   Frequent

(34-66%)

  1. Establish, monitor and maintain realistic budgets throughout the year.

  2. Maintain appropriate records to document progress for college and state reports.

  3. Locate and arrange facilities for classes.

  4. Maintain appropriate communications with other continuing education programmers and appropriate instructors/administrators/staff to insure efficient coordination of training with all areas of the College.

  5. Market programs to insure dissemination of information and adequate enrollments.

  6. Establish advisory committees as needed to provide expertise and guidance in curriculum development and insure program effectiveness.

  7. Instruct Wind Energy courses as needed.  Substitute for program instructors in their absence.
 

3.   Occasional

(10-33%)

  1. Serve on selected and voluntary committees of the college when appropriate.

  2. Arrange and/or attend meetings when necessary.

  3. Conduct surveys to assess consumer needs and program effectiveness.

  4. Conduct community awareness programs to advertise services.

  5. Work with marketing staff on promotional materials.

  6. Perform other work duties as assigned and requested.

  1. Ability to access, utilize, input and retrieve information from a computer.

  2. Represent the College in a positive, professional manner to employees, students, customers, visitors and the general public.

  3. Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators and other contacts.

  4. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated and creative with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

  5. Must develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of office procedures, telephone techniques and appropriate equipment, and utilize correct English, grammar, punctuation and spelling.

  6. Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions or communications.

  7. Ability to efficiently perform tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions.

  8. Ability to assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems and exercise good judgment when making decisions.

  9. Possess strong human relations skills and the ability to effectively relate to diverse personalities.

  10. Must possess the ability to make public presentations that are effective and well received.

Special Demands:

 Position involves sitting or standing most of the time in an office or classroom/laboratory setting. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing walking, lifting, grasping, talking hearing, repetitive motions and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) climbing, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling and carrying. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently. May be required to travel between sites utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s Degree in a related area required. Prior experience in educational program development or instruction is preferred.

Salary: 260 day contract based upon experience and education.
