GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
This is a part-time position (approximately 20 hrs/week) at the Algona
Campus Success Center with primary responsibility of providing
instruction for ABE/GED, Success Center college credit courses, high
school diploma credits, and developmental education courses.

Provide individual and/or classroom instruction in developmental
education courses, ABE/GED, high school diploma credit courses,
and Success Center courses. |

2. |
Work collaboratively with the Success Center Supervisor for
day-to-day assignments. |

Maintain progress and student records and files. |
|
4. |
Organize library and college-by-cassette materials. |
|
5. |
Proctor university and college exams. |

Frequent
(34-66%) |
|
1. |
Enroll students in ABE/GED, college credit courses, high
school completion classes and developmental education
courses. |
|
2. |
Administer Asset, Compass, CLEP, GED pretests, and other
tests for college credit courses, high school completion
courses, developmental education courses, and continuing
education courses. |
|
3. |
Supervise and assist students in using computer technology
for information retrieval. |
|
4. |
Upgrade college credit course curricula as necessary. |

1. |
Assign mid-term and final grades for college credit courses,
high school diploma credit classes, and developmental
education classes. |

2. |
Utilize LSA results and help students interpret results
individually. |

3. |
Assist in ordering materials and supplies. |

Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and education
media equipment. |

Represent the college in a positive manner to employees, students,
visitors, and the general public. |
|

Must be enthusiastic and energetic in performance of assigned
duties and responsibilities. |

Thorough knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, punctuation
and mathematics. |

5. |
Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions or
communication. |

Ability to efficiently perform tasks in an environment of frequent
interruptions. |

Ability to assume responsibility; deal effectively with problems and
exercise good judgment when making decisions. |

Ability to effectively work with under prepared students. |

Utilize “active learning” techniques in the classroom. |
SPECIAL DEMANDS:
Sedentary to light work. Position involves moving about
the Success Center to individually assist students; exerting up to 20
pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching,
pushing, pulling, carrying and repetitive motion occasionally (34-66%).
Talking, hearing, viewing various types of close visual work, and
repetitive motion, constantly (67-100%). Some evening and weekend work
is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Possess or be eligible to obtain an
elementary, secondary or post-secondary teaching license.
SALARY:
$16.00 per hour
