GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The instructor is responsible for teaching a full-time assignment of
classes as defined by the College and/or collective bargaining
agreement. Some teaching assignments may be during evenings or weekends
and/or on the T.V. or ICN systems. Must evaluate and report student
performance and progress in assigned courses in accordance with College
and division policies and procedures. Satisfy the employability
standards of the Quality Faculty Plan of Iowa Lakes Community College.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. |
Effectively organize, teach, and evaluate student performance
and progress in assigned course offerings in accordance with
established syllabi. Assignments may include various delivery
formats, methods, work schedules, and locations, including
teaching at or for area high schools. |

2. |
Evaluate, report, and record student performance and progress
according to college and division guidelines. |
|
3. |
Maintain current course syllabi and provide student guides for
all courses taught. |
|
4. |
Organize and manage campus science lab. Handle and maintain
laboratory equipment, design and supervise laboratory
instruction for students. |

1. |
Maintain established office hours. |
|
2. |
Serve as academic advisor to students and make referrals,
when deemed necessary, to other College personnel, such as
the Executive Dean, Counselors, Financial Aid, etc., for
more specialized information and assistance. |

3. |
Attend and serve on assigned and voluntary program and
college committees. |
|
4. |
Assist in the development of new courses and revisions of
existing courses in discipline area. |
|
5. |
Assist in the Marketing of College programs and admission of
students. |

1. |
Regularly engage in professional development activities and
keep current with developing trends and ideas in profession. |

2. |
Assist in the process of requesting and maintaining
instructional equipment and supplies for
classrooms/laboratory use. |

Assist the supervisor in the budgeting process. |

4. |
Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of communications
within the college and community. |
|
5. |
Encourage and foster student participation in professional
organizations, college activities, and community activities. |
|
6. |
May be required to serve as a student club sponsor. |

SPECIAL DEMANDS:
Position involves sitting or standing most of the time in
an office or classroom/laboratory setting. Constant (67-100%) reaching,
standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive
motions and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent
(34-66%) stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling and carrying. Exerting up
to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently.
May be required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid
driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.
Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon
successful passage of a criminal background check.

Master’s Degree in Physics or Master’s Degree in a related area with
at least 12 graduate hours in discipline required. Prior teaching
experience preferred.
SALARY:
Commensurate with education and related experience for a 170 day
contract.
