Position:      Executive Director of Institutional Advancement
Classification: Administration
Department: President’s Cabinet
Report to:  College President

           

General Job Summary:

This is a full-time administrative position reporting directly to the College President. Primary responsibilities are to supervise, manage, and direct all activities and personnel associated with fund raising, Alumni Association and College Foundations. Active participation on the President’s Cabinet is required to assist in formulating institution wide policies and procedures.

 % of TIME                                           Essential Duties/Responsibilities  


1.   Constant

(67-100%)

  1. Supervise, manage and direct personnel and activities of the Institutional Advancement Office.

  2. Coordinate and foster close relations with the Alumni Association, Iowa Lakes Community College Foundation, and Iowa Lakes Scholarship Foundation.

  3. Conduct capital campaigns.

  4. Conduct internal and external annual fund raising activities.

  5. Identify, cultivate, manage, and solicit planned and major gifts to the College including student scholarships.

  6. Coordinate and oversee institutional fund raising events.

 

 

2.   Frequent

(34-66%)

  1. Work closely with the Executive Director of Planning and Development in grant proposals, fund raising, focus groups, employee meeting and newsletters.

  2. Market the purpose of the Institutional Development Office to the public and potential donors to encourage donations to the College.

  3. Coordinate activities with other areas of the College to facilitate effective operations.

  4. Coordinate scholarship activities from solicitation to presentation of awards.
 

3.   Occasional

(10-33%)

  1. Assist in periodic evaluation of public perceptions of the College.

  2. Complete annual and periodic reports as requested by the President.

  3. Serve on selected and voluntary committees of the College.

  4. Other duties as assigned.

  1. Represent the College in a positive manner to employees, students, visitors, and the general public.

  2. Must be enthusiastic and energetic in performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

  3. Ability to assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems and exercise good judgment when making decisions.

  4. Ability to effectively supervise, manage, and relate to personnel in diverse areas.

  5. Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.

  6. Demonstrate ability to utilize correct English, grammar, punctuation and math.

  7. Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions and communications.

  8. Ability to efficiently perform tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions.

Special Demands:

Sedentary to light work. Position involves sitting most of the time; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting and grasping frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, viewing various types of close visual work and repetitive motion constantly (67-100%). Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check.

Minimum Qualifications:  

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business with strong public relations or related area is desired. Higher Education experience in fund raising, alumni relations, placement, and/or student services is preferred. Demonstrated ability to effectively relate to diverse personalities in a social and business setting is required. Prior experience with estate planning, trusts, and planned giving desired.
