General
Job Summary: Primary responsibility is to provide college preparation counseling and information about Iowa Lakes Community College to prospective students for recruitment purposes. Admissions Counselor will travel extensively and represent Iowa Lakes Community College in assigned areas. Position includes all responsibilities associated with assistant coaching in the men’s basketball program at the postsecondary level including recruitment, training, academic support, and instilling sportsmanship

Essential Duties/Responsibilities |

1.
Constant (67-100%) |
Recruitment responsibilities of contacting and personally visiting high schools in established territory. Attend college day/night fairs throughout Iowa & Minnesota. Travel extensively in assigned area; occasionally overnight. Maintain an understanding of all academic programs throughout Iowa Lakes Community College. Assist the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in the training, recruitment and placement of student athletes. |

2.
Frequent (34-66%) |
Assist with Career Day, College Day, First Day Activities, Career Expo Day, 8th grade events, and orientation days. Assist in hosting visitors to campus by responding to questions, giving college tours, and providing college wide information. Assist students with advisement questions. Promote fund raising activities to students, staff and the general public. Meet with students, as necessary, to resolve conflicts.

3.
Occasional (10-33%) |
Serve on assigned and voluntary committees. Participate in all required professional development activities. Communicate effectively with staff and students. Assist with organizing basketball camp for area youth in the summer. Other duties as assigned.

Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer for word processing, database information, and the mainframe. Represent the College in a positive manner to employees, students, visitors and the general public. Must be enthusiastic and energetic in performance of assigned duties and responsibilities. Must be a self starter and have the ability to function under limited supervision. Possess a thorough knowledge of office procedures, telephone techniques and office equipment, as well as correct English usage, grammar, punctuation and arithmetic. Must have the ability to read and understand written and oral instructions or communications. Must have the ability to efficiently perform tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions. Must have the ability to assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems and exercise good judgment when making decisions. Knowledge of general admissions processes and procedures practiced by post-secondary educational institutions. Must have the ability to organize, multi-task and communicate effectively.
Special Demands:
Sedentary to light work. Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of close visual work constantly (67-100%). Must complete Bloodborne Pathogens Training. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance. Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in related area required; Master’s Degree preferred. Possess excellent people skills and a thorough understanding of Iowa Lakes Community College and our role in the state educational system. Possess adequate computer skills and personal vehicle for extensive travel. Three years experience in student personnel area desired. Coaching and or playing at postsecondary level preferred.
