GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
From June 14, 2010 through July 23, 2010, sixty-four
college bound high school students will participate in an
academic–intensive program on the Emmetsburg Campus of Iowa Lakes
Community College. Tutor/counselors will work with certified instructors
in academic areas and lead/supervise students during cultural,
recreational and social activities. Tutor/counselors are responsible for
students on a 24-hour basis between 7:00 am Mondays through 2:00 pm
Fridays, weekends free.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. |
Supervision of students and tutoring in academic courses. |

Provide a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere conducive to maximum
student growth. |

3. |
Interpret and insure compliance of rules and regulations by
students. |

Assure that dormitory discipline and related matters are handled
fairly and consistently. |

5. |
Work with program staff to enforce program policies. |
|
6. |
Supervise dormitory and campus activities. |

Frequent

1. |
Assist students from Monday morning until Friday afternoon
during the residential program. |
|
2. |
Attend all required staff meetings. |
|
3. |
Prepare and lead enrichment activities as assigned. |

Occasional
(10-33%) |
|
1. |
Transport students to and from scheduled off-campus
activities in college vans. Fifteen-passenger chauffeurs’
license required (Iowans only). |

2. |
Other duties as assigned. |

SPECIAL DEMANDS:
Sedentary
to light work. Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%).
Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying
occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion
frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of
close visual work constantly (67-100%). Must have valid driver’s
license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.
Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon
successful passage of a criminal background check.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer college junior or senior, college graduate and/or prior
resident advisor experience. Cumulative grade point average above
2.75. Previous experience working with high school youth. High level
of maturity, motivation and responsibility. Must be a team player.
Able and willing to obtain a chauffeur’s license (Iowans only). Must
live in dormitory with students from June 14, 2010 through
July 23, 2010. Orientation training session required for all
residential staff the week of June 7, 2010.
SALARY:
$1,500 plus room and board
