Position:      CADD Program Coordinator/Instructor
Classification: Faculty

Report to:  Campus Executive Dean

           

General Job Summary:

The instructor is responsible for teaching a full time assignment of classes as defined by the College and/or collective bargaining agreement. Some teaching assignments may be during evenings or weekends and/or on the T.V. or ICN systems. Must evaluate and report student performance and progress in assigned courses in accordance with College and division policies and procedures.

 % of TIME                                           Essential Duties/Responsibilities  


1.   Constant

(67-100%)

  1. Effectively organize, teach and evaluate student performance and progress in assigned course offerings in accordance with established syllabi. Assignments may include various delivery formats, methods, work schedules and locations.

  2. Evaluate, report and record student performance and progress according to College and division guidelines.

  3. Maintain current course syllabi and provide student guides for all courses taught.

  4. Develop and maintain proficiency in CADD software.

  5. Organize and manage Estherville Campus CADD facilities.

  6. Coordinate all aspects of program and communicate regularly with Executive Dean.

 

 

2.   Frequent

(34-66%)

  1. Maintain established office hours.

  2. Serve as academic advisor to students and make referrals, when deemed necessary, to other College personnel, such as the Executive Dean, Counselor, Financial Aid, etc. for more specialized information and assistance.

  3. Maintain the hardware & software in the CADD lab.

  4. Attend and serve on assigned and voluntary program and College committees.

  5. Assist in the development of new courses and revisions of existing courses in discipline to insure continued program growth and development.

  6. Arrange lab sites for student practical experiences and monitor progress.

  7. Assist with the recruitment and orientation of students.
 

3.   Occasional

(10-33%)

  1. Regularly engage in professional development activities and keep current with developing trends and ideas in profession.

  2. Assist in the process of requesting and maintaining instructional equipment and supplies for classroom/laboratory use.

  3. Assist the supervisor in the budgeting process.

  4. Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of communications within the College and community.

  5. Encourage and foster student participation in professional organizations, College and community activities.

  6. Serve as a student club sponsor.

  1. Represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, staff and the community.

  2. Ability to organize and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.

  3. Present oneself in a classroom setting in a manner that is acceptable and consistent with program and College guidelines, policies and practices.

  4. Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems and exercise independent judgment when making decisions.

  5. Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, administrators and other contacts.

  6. Read, understand and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written communications.

  7. Possess strong human relations skills and the ability to effectively relate to diverse personalities.

  8. Be a creative, energetic and self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

  9. Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and educational media equipment.

  10. Effectively work as a member of a cooperative team.

Special Demands:

Position involves sitting or standing most of the time in an office or classroom/laboratory setting. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently. May be required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Associate’s Degree in CADD required. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in CADD, Computers, or other related area preferred. Prior teaching experience at the college level is desired

Salary: Commensurate with education and related experience for a 210 day contract.
